Biography
Donna Zaorski received a Psy.D. from the Georgia School of Professional Psychology. She completed her internship at the West Side Chicago Veteran's Administration Health Care System, where she worked with veterans who were diagnosed with a wide range of mental health issues including post-traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse/dependence, and psychotic spectrum disorders. Dr. Zaorski completed a postdoctoral fellowship in severe and persistent mental illness at Emory University Medical School, where she provided clinical services to those attending Grady Memorial Hospital’s intensive outpatient and day hospital treatment programs. In addition, she supervised psychology interns, practicum students, medical residents, and program staff. From 2001-2002, Dr. Zaorski was the Clinical Coordinator for a research study on intimate partner violence and child abuse. In that role, Dr. Zaorski was responsible for supervising a team of research assistants and managing clinical aspects of the research project. In 2003, she joined the staff of the Georgia Institute of Technology Counseling Center, where she provided psychological services to university students, conducted outreach presentations, and supervised therapy practicum students. In 2005, Dr. Zaorski returned to the Georgia School of Professional Psychology at Argosy Atlanta, this time as a full-time core faculty member in the Clinical Psychology program. She was the founding Director of the Argosy University Atlanta Psychology Clinic, as well as a co-founder of GSPP's chapter of Psychologists for Social Responsibility. Her clinical interests include relational models of psychotherapy (i.e., attachment and interpersonal theory), existential/experiential treatment, feminist theory and therapy, assessment and treatment of psychological trauma, professional ethics, and clinical supervision. Existentialism and social justice are themes that inform her teaching as well as her clinical work. Courses that she teaches at GSPP include Diagnostic Psychopathology, Professional Ethics, Person-Centered and Experiential Theories and Therapies, Therapy Practicum Seminar, and Clinical Interviewing. In addition to teaching, Dr. Zaorski currently maintains a part-time private practice in Atlanta, with a focus on general adult psychotherapy. Dr. Zaorski has presented in the area of ethical decision making and diversity.
