Biography

Dr. Kaprice R. Thomas is a graduate of the joint program in law and clinical psychology at Pacific Graduate School of Psychology (now at Palo Alto University) in Palo Alto, California and Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco, California. In psychology, she specializes in the areas of forensic psychology, suicide, military trauma and psychological assessment. Currently, Dr. Thomas lectures in the areas of personality assessment, integrative assessment, diagnostic report writing and case formulation, forensic psychology, and clinical and diagnostic interviewing. In addition to providing didactic training for students at diagnostic practicum sites, Dr. Thomas provides individual advisement for students regarding all aspects of doctoral training and specifically towards successful placement in pre-doctoral internship and empirical research. In addition to over ten years of graduate teaching experience, Dr. Thomas has clinical experience with military veterans and their spouses; children aged 5-18 placed in inpatient treatment facilities and chronically mentally ill adults. She has experience in evaluation of competency and potential for restoration, mentally disordered offender (MDO), suicide, trauma, and court ordered evaluations for individuals found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI) and MDO for supervised community outplacement who were confined at Atascadero and Napa State Hospitals. Dr. Thomas completed her pre-doctoral and post-doctoral residencies at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia. As part of this training, Dr. Thomas assessed and evaluated veterans for intensive outpatient group psychotherapy for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and completed rotations in General Assessment, Neuropsychological Assessment, Health Psychology, Outpatient and Inpatient Clinic, and individual and group therapy work with the Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Clinical Team (PCT). Dr. Thomas is an ambassador for the National Health Services Corps and is the Network Representative for the Federal Education Advocacy Coordinators for Argosy University. She served as the Chair of the Georgia Psychological Association’s Ethnic/Minority Affairs Committee from 2004-2006. She is a Licensed Psychologist and Licensed Attorney at Law in the state of Georgia.
