Admissions & Financial Aid:Orange County

American School of Professional Psychology, Southern California at Argosy University, Orange County takes applications for Fall admission. Students are encouraged to apply early with the expectation that the majority of applicants will be received by February 1st. Decisions are made on a first come, first serve basis with the expectation that decisions will be made by April 15th. Admission requirements are as follows:
  • A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or an appropriately certified foreign institution
  • An undergraduate degree grade point average of at least 3.25 (on a scale of 4.0) -or- A graduate GPA of 3.5 (on a scale of 4.0) for a minimum of 25 graduate credits from a regionally accredited institution or an appropriately certified foreign institution
  • Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores are optional and are not required for admission.
  • A minimum score on an Argosy University pre-approved English language proficiency test is required for all applicants whose native language is not English or who have not graduated from an institution at which English is the language of instruction as specified in Section Five, Admission Policies, “English Language Proficiency Policy .”
  • Completion of an interview with a member of the program Admissions Committee.
  • All applications for admission must be submitted to the Admissions Department of the campus to which application is being made. An admissions representative is available to help interested applicants complete the following required documentation:
  • Completed Application for Admission Form
  • Application fee (Non-refundable, except in California and Arizona. In the state of Arizona, the application fee is refundable if the application is canceled within three business days of the applicant signing the Enrollment Agreement.)
  • Personal/professional goal statement with a self-appraisal of qualifications for the profession
  • Current résumé (or career summary)
  • Three completed Applicant Recommendation Forms

    Foundation Prerequisite Course Requirements prior to Matriculation

    Applicants need to have completed five foundation courses (see below), or their equivalent, with a grade of "C" or better prior to matriculating into the Clinical Psychology program at the American School of Professional Psychology, Southern California at Argosy University. General psychology Statistics or research methods Any three other psychology courses Students who have not completed these courses prior to admission must do so before the end of their first semester of matriculation. Argosy University offers courses in all of the above subject areas in an online format.

    Program Costs

    Argosy University, Orange County (AUOC) requires full-time clinical psychology PsyD students to complete 33 credits during their first year. The per credit hour cost (Academic Year 2011-2012; clinical psychology PsyD program) at AUOC is $1,107.00. The total tuition during the first year is: $36,531.00. In addition there are the following fees that are required during the first year of the program: Admission Application Fee ($50.00), Technology Fee ($15.00/credit x 33 = $495.00), Activity Fee ($25.00) and Test Kit Fee ($100.00). Students finance their tuition through student loans, scholarships, work-study positions, and teaching and research assistantships.

    Financial Aid

    Financial assistance (financial aid) awarded through Argosy University may consist of a combination of federal grants, scholarships, state aid programs, loans, and/or part-time work-study opportunities for those who qualify. Different forms of financial aid are explained later in this section. Students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Argosy University Institutional Application for Financial Aid to apply for financial assistance. After students are accepted and complete the appropriate paperwork, students will receive an award letter from Argosy University, describing their Financial Aid Package.
