Biography
Dr. Butaney is Chair and a core faculty member in the Clinical Psychology program at the Arizona School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Phoenix. He received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at St. John's University. Dr. Butaney also received an Ed.M with course work in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University. Prior to coming to the Arizona School of Professional Psychology, Dr. Butaney was a Senior Psychologist and Director of Externship Training at Jacobi Medical Center (New York) and has taught at Adelphi University as a full-time and adjunct faculty member. He has also served as the interim Assistant Dean and Program Director for the Master's programs in Psychology and Mental Health Counseling at the Derner Institute for Advanced Psychological Studies. He maintained a private practice in New York where he treated a diverse group of individuals struggling with varying psychiatric issues, and was also a Senior Consulting Psychologist at the Parker Jewish Institute. Current research interests include trauma/abuse, the integration of mindfulness into clinical practice, and the role of envy in clinical process and psychopathology.
