Biography
Dr. Benson-Flórez recently joined the Clinical Psychology faculty and received his Ph. D. at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Counseling Psychology. He has extensive experience working in community mental health settings primarily serving Spanish speaking Latinas/os and other diverse ethnic minority groups displaying a wide range of mental health issues. He recently completed the Multicultural Internship of Psychology in Massachusetts. He currently does clinical work as a bilingual (Spanish/English) speaking therapist at Southwest Behavioral Health in Phoenix, AZ working with Latinas/os and other diverse populations. His research interests include psychosocial issues such as acculturation and ethnic identity with Latinas/os. Dr. Benson-Flórez is also interested in sociopolitical factors in psychology such as immigration/migration experiences that influence Latinas/os mental health and other minority groups.
