Overview
Argosy University, Twin Cities in Eagan, Minnesota, offers an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Radiologic Technology degree program. The mission of the program is to provide the medical community with entry-level radiologic technologists competent to perform diagnostic medical radiography. Consistent with the institutional mission, the program is committed to the student’s educational and professional growth. The program integrates both general and technical education to ensure that graduates can meet the multiple demands of rapidly changing technology in medical practice.
Program Goals
As a partner in the community, the Radiologic Technology program will:
• Provide instruction to demonstrate professional behaviors, appropriate patient care and radiation safety
• Successfully prepare the graduates for entry level employment as a Radiologic Technologist through quality clinical experience
• Foster the achievement of personal development and demonstration of positive relationship skills via effective communication, respect for others and awareness of their impact on others
• Prepare the student for success in the ARRT certification examination
• Meet the needs of the medical profession by assisting the students in career planning and development
• Maintain a high standard of educational instruction in Radiologic Technology
Course Format
The program includes 72 credit hours of study. In addition to the program-specific courses, students are required to complete 21 credit hours in General Education to fulfill the requirements of an AAS degree.
Full-time students following the recommended curriculum outline can complete the program in 24 months. The maximum allowable timeframe to complete this program based upon full-time status is 36 months.
Career Outcomes
The Radiologic Technology degree program prepares graduates for entry-level employment as a radiologic technologist. Radiologic technologists, or radiographers, are highly skilled professionals qualified by education to perform imaging examinations and accompanying responsibilities at the request of physicians qualified to prescribe and/or perform radiologic procedures.
