Argosy University offers both a Master’s and Doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology. The Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology program continues the professional development for students currently working — or desiring to work — in a counseling role. Students are introduced to basic counseling skills that integrate individual and group theoretical foundations of professional counseling into appropriate client interaction and intervention skills. The University also offers a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology/Marriage & Family Therapy program for students who wish to gain licensure as a marriage and family therapist in the state of California. A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution is necessary for admission into these programs.
The Doctor of Education in Counseling Psychology program was created for students with a background in mental health, social work, school counseling, pastoral counseling, and psychiatric nursing. The program prepares counselors with the skills and credentials necessary to pursue leadership, supervisory, training, and teaching positions in the field.
