(Denver, Colo. – August 8, 2013) Argosy University, Denver student and adjunct instructor Mita Johnson, LPC, LMFT, ACS, AMMFT-approved Clinical Supervisor, LAC, has been awarded the Colorado Excellence in Leadership Award by the Colorado Association of Addiction Professionals.
Johnson, a student in the Doctor of Education in Counselor Education & Supervision program at the university, has worked in the behavioral health field as a mental health and substance abuse clinician, educator, trainer and supervisor for more than 25 years. In addition to her duties as an instructor for both Argosy University, Denver and Metropolitan State University of Denver, Johnson maintains a private practice in Golden, Colorado.
She is the current President of the Colorado Association of Addiction Professionals, is a Governor’s appointee to the Behavioral Health Transformation Council, has served as an expert witness and case consultant to the state attorney general’s office, has been a member of the advisory committee that provides input regarding Certified Addiction Counselor training through the Office of Behavioral Healt5h and will be the NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals Southwest Regional Vice President beginning in October 2013.
