Program Information
The Associate of Science (AS) in Criminal Justice degree program at Argosy University, Orange County combines an introduction to the various occupational fields of the criminal justice system with coursework in general education. The Argosy University, Orange County associate’s degree in Criminal Justice program is designed to develop the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Program Outcome One: Communications
Students will develop college-level foundational skills as it pertains to listening, reading, comprehension, speaking, and writing. They will be expected to communicate proficiently in various contexts related to the criminal justice system.
Program Outcome Two: Critical Thinking
Students will learn the fundamentals of identifying and describing problems and propose appropriate solutions in the field of criminal justice. They will acquire proficiency in integrating analytical and problem solving skills to formulate conclusions and make informed decisions.
Program Outcome Three: Research
Students will acquire basic research skills — both traditional and technology based — to enable them to methodically gather and sort through relevant information, and develop analytical and reporting skills.
Program Outcome Four: Knowledge and Basic Application
Students will learn the fundamental concepts related to the criminal justice system, and be introduced to the historical foundations and contemporary theories associated with the causes of crime, systems of social control, law enforcement, judicial process, and correctional philosophies.
Program Outcome Five: Ethics and Values
Students will recognize the purposes for, and learn about the importance of ethically applying laws, policies, procedures, and operational techniques to the investigation, detection, apprehension, adjudication, and rehabilitation or punishment of criminal offenders.
