Program Information

The Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) in Adult Education and Training degree program at Argosy University, Seattle is designed for the working professional associated with adult learning, training, or staff development in business, government, and or other private or public organizations. The goal of the program is to enhance the knowledge and skills in the area of adult learning for employment and other organizational settings.

Students will have the opportunity to develop core practical and academic skills in analysis, oral and written communication, problem solving, critical thinking, team-building, and computer technology, through courses that examine the practical, historical, philosophical, psychological, social, technical, and theoretical aspects of education.

Career Outcomes
A master’s degree in Adult Education & Training may prepare you for employment as an adult education and training specialist in business, government, and other private or public organizations.

Program Learning Outcomes

Program Outcome One: Research and Theory
Students make decisions based on research and supported theory. They use their knowledge and skills that apply to adult learning and training strategies.

Program Outcome Two: Communication and Informational Literacy
Students effectively communicate a vision of educational excellence to the learning community. They use their oral and written language skills and their knowledge of informational literacy and organizational communication specifically related to adult learning and development.

Program Outcome Three: Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
Students develop systems to check their own thinking, to reflect on present and past practices in considering the future, to analyze complex issues, and to evaluate potential solutions in adult education and training programs.

Program Outcome Four: Collaboration
Students promote democratic values by respecting the ideas and gifts of those with whose care they are charged. They continuously seek improvement and use their knowledge to engage, capture knowledge, facilitate interaction, and respond with value added solutions.

Program Outcome Five: Leadership
Students design an evolved leadership style that supports the development of others, is harmonious with democratic principles and best educational practices, and focuses on adult achievement as the ultimate goal of the learning community. They are leading catalysts for sharing knowledge and practices worldwide, as well as delivering timely information, products, and services.

Students exhibit and expect accountability in integrity, fairness, and ethical behavior.

Program Outcome Seven: Diversity
Students articulate an appreciation of the value of every individual and demonstrate a commitment to their success by understanding needs and expectations.

Students have positive relationship skills that promote personal and ethical professional development via effective communication, encouragement, empathy, respect for others, self-awareness, and other-awareness.
