Program Information

Argosy University, Twin Cities in Eagan, Minnesota, offers an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Medical Assisting degree program. The mission of the program is to prepare students to work in a healthcare environment as part of a professional team dedicated to providing quality healthcare. The program is designed to help students develop their personal and technical skills to become dedicated, knowledgeable, and ethical caregivers demonstrating utmost respect and concern for the well-being of the patients and families they serve.

Curriculum and Time of Completion
The Medical Assisting degree program is comprised of 60 credit hours of study. In addition to the program-specific courses, students are required to complete 21 credit hours in General Education to fulfill the requirements of an AAS degree.

Students enrolled in the AAS in Medical Assisting program must choose a Track I or Track II curriculum outline:
Track I: Full-time students following the recommended Track I curriculum outline can complete the program in 16 months. The maximum allowable timeframe to complete the Track I curriculum based upon full-time status is 24 months.
Track II: Full-time students following the recommended Track II curriculum outline can complete the program in 12 months. The maximum allowable timeframe to complete the Track II curriculum based upon full-time status is 18 months.

Career Outcomes
Medical assistants are trained to be multiskilled allied healthcare professionals. Their responsibilities may include:

• Office management
• Assisting the physician
