Argosy University, Seattle Offers Integrated Behavioral Health Certificate

SEATTLE, WA (August 20, 2012) --   Argosy University, Seattle is pleased to announce the launch of its Integrated Behavioral Health Certificate program in response to demand for integrated health behavioral specialists.

“Innovative medical practices are seeking counselors, nurses, social workers, physician’s assistants, and psychologists to serves as integrated behavioral health specialists. This certificate program can prepare participants to meet the needs of these roles in medical settings,” says Campus President Dr. Tom Dyer.

Through the program, participants are exposed to faculty who are active practitioners of the skills they are teaching including, physicians, nurses, counselors, psychologists, and substance abuse professionals. Training will emphasize practical, hands-on skills interdisciplinary teamwork, as well as patient assessment and treatment.

The certificate program starts in October 2012 and consists of eight intensive two-day (Saturday and Sunday) modules starting 10-20-12 and ending 06-20-13. Participants will be in class 12 hours per weekend and can earn 96 continuing education (CE) hours. Students may register for individual courses (12 CE hours) for $300 each or the entire program (96 CE hours) for $2,050.

The following subjects will be covered:

  • Patient-centered, collaborative team skills
  • Skills for improving patient adherence to treatment– Asthma – Diabetes – Heart Disease – Obesity – Smoking
  • Skills for screening and brief focused treatment of– Anxiety – Depression – Pain – Substance Abuse
  • Medical terminology basics
  • Skills for communication
