Illinois Counseling Association and Argosy University, Schaumburg Offer Professional Development Workshop for Counseling Professionals

(SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – June 12, 2012)   Argosy University, Schaumburg and the Illinois Counseling Association are pleased to present a workshop designed to enhance the skills of counseling professionals. The lecture, “The Mental Health Attorney at Your Fingertips” will take place on Friday, June 22, 2010 from 10 am – 4 pm at the campus, located at 999 North Plaza Drive, Suite 111, Schaumburg, IL 60173-5403. Continuing educational credits will be offered to those professionals who attend.

Attendees can earn five continuing education credits from the Illinois Counseling Association from the session. They will learn about confidentiality as it relates to minors in Illinois, legal issues around consultation, privacy and privilege and how to avoid malpractice.

Sandra G. Nye, J.D., M.S.W. will serve as the speaker for the event. Nye, a practicing attorney for 47 years, has a reputation for handling difficult legal cases at a level of skill and compassion few other lawyers can match. She serves families and mental health and human service professionals in Chicago and other Cook County communities and is the author of numerous articles and books. A nationally known lecturer, Sandra has spoken before judges, legal and mental health agencies, associations, and human services practices. She specializes in malpractice avoidance, record confidentiality, consultation, risk management, incorporation, practice formation, documentation, professional licensure defense and other issues as well as guardianship.
