Argosy University, Nashville National Week of Service - April 19 - 25, 2009


(NASHVILLE, TN – April 16, 2009) –Argosy University, Nashville faculty, staff and students are teaming up on a special assignment that will promote goodwill and valuable support to the community during National Week of Service April 19 - 25, 2009. The Nashville campus has teamed up with the YWCA of Nashville & Middle Tennessee to collect wish list items to assist the facility in its care and service to the community.

On April 1, 2009, the Nashville campus launched a drive to collect wish list items for the YWCA. Wish list items include but are not limited to: toiletries, clothing, socks, new underwear, bath towels, kitchen utensils, silverware, first aid kits, hair care products, phone cards, sheets, cleaning supplies, baby diapers, baby wipes and pots and pans. Donations will be presented to the YWCA on Thursday, April 30, 2009, 3:30 p.m. at the corporate offices located at 1608 Woodmont Boulevard, Nashville, TN. The YWCA is the largest women and children domestic violence center in the state of Tennessee.

Faculty, staff and students are no strangers to community service. Since its inception, Argosy University campuses have been actively involved in community outreach with various projects ranging from food and clothing drives for the disenfranchised, raising money for charity, building homes with Habitat for Humanity, making soldier appreciation gift packs for active duty military, supporting youth education and motivation programs, and collecting items for local homeless shelters. With 19 campus locations in 13 states, students and staff have partnered with local women’s shelters to enhance the lives of women and children in each campus community area.

“Participating in the National Week of Service complements our campus environment of serving our students and serving the community where we live and work,” Campus President Dr. Kittie Myatt said. “Giving back to the community is always the right thing to do and we are proud of the work and support our faculty, staff and students have put into this important effort.”
