Teaching & Learning: ELL/ESL

A significant challenge facing today’s P-12 schools is how to educate children, regardless of their learning disability, a lack of familiarity with the English language, or the ability to read. If you are a general classroom teacher, a teacher’s aide, or a person who works to support the learning of students and want to build upon your knowledge and expertise in these areas, Argosy University’s Teaching and Learning programs are for you.

This 30-credit program prepares educators who work in the P-12 setting as change agents who engage actively in their communities, using appropriate pedagogy and technology to foster the development of global citizens. Students enrolled in this program will complete a four-course sequence designed to strengthen educators’ knowledge and skills when working with students who are classified as English Language Learners or English as a Second Language.

Throughout this Teaching and Learning program, students complete field experiences in their schools. These field experiences are designed to weave together what they learn in their coursework with what they do in their classrooms to support and improve student learning. This program does not lead to certification or credential endorsement.
