Completing a doctoral degree was a lifelong dream of Argosy University, Denver graduate Dr. Julian Barela. He saw that dream realized when he earned his Doctor of Business Administration in Business Administration degree from the university in 2012.
“Argosy University helped me pursue my academic goal in obtaining my doctoral degree,” says Barela. “Without this degree, I would be on the sidelines wishing I would have pursued my academic and professional dreams and goals.”
Barela serves as the Executive Director and CEO for Mora Valley Community Health Services in New Mexico, a 501(c)3 non-profit providing primary medical, dental, behavioral health services to low income residents.
He has dedicated his career to public service, beginning as an Analyst and Special Projects Manager for the Santa Fe County Managers and Commissioners office. Since that time, he has held positions as the Finance Manager for the Santa Fe County Corrections Department, Finance Director and Deputy County Manager of Finance and Administration in Taos County, Budget Administrator in Bernalillo County and as Fiscal Manager for the City of Albuquerque, Cultural Services Department.
Barela holds both bachelor and master’s degrees in Business Administration from New Mexico Highlands University. He currently teaches as an adjunct professor at New Mexico Highlands University and is a licensed real estate broker.
