Letter From The Dean

Dear Prospective Student,

I’m delighted that you’ve shown interest in the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University | Schaumburg (ISPP, Schaumburg). Our Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) program has been accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) for more than 15 years and has played an integral role in preparing practitioner-scholars to address real needs and issues in their surrounding communities.

The program provides various opportunities for students to pursue their interests, including clinical health psychology, neuropsychology, forensic psychology, and child and family psychology. It is designed to train them to be proficient in the empirical and theoretical underpinnings of integrated behavioral health interventions while remaining sensitive to the cultural, contextual, and socioeconomic environments in which they serve.

The rigorous curriculum not only prepares students for licensure, but also seeks to engage their intellectual and relational capacities in addition to inviting them to experience a transformative relationship with both themselves and the world.

You’ll be joining a diverse community of students who are active, engaged, collaborative, and socially conscious. Our outstanding professors and supervisors represent a comprehensive range of talent and perspectives, and they are committed to helping you fulfill your academic, life, and professional goals. They’ll provide the mentoring and professional guidance you need while developing your clinical skills.

Each year, many of our students obtain competitive internship and post-doctoral placements across the U.S., while others continue their training locally. Many students train at our own Northwest Suburban Internship Consortium, which we established in 2012 and has since been awarded membership status with the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Center.

If you have specific questions about our program or general questions about professional training in clinical psychology, or if you would like to discuss the admissions process, please contact our clinical admissions director, Paula Thakkar, at pthakkar@argosy.edu or 847.752.5294.

Sincerely,

Cameron Brewer, Ph.D. Program Dean
