Dear Prospective Student,
We are delighted that you are interested in The Illinois School of Professional Psychology (ISPP) at Argosy University, Schaumburg. Our faculty members take tremendous pride in their commitment to teaching excellence, fostering excellent practicum training opportunities and preparing students for the internship process and, ultimately, psychologist licensure.
Building upon 15 years of continuous accreditation by the American Psychological Association (APA) for our Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology degree program*, our practitioner-scholar oriented faculty represent a broad range of perspectives and specific areas of expertise that, combined with our rigorous curriculum, provides many opportunities for students to pursue particular interests (e.g. child and family, clinical health, forensic psychology and neuropsychology).
Every year, we have a number of students present their research and scholarship at national conferences and who obtain highly competitive internship and post-doctoral placements across the United States. While we are pleased that many of our students are accepted to sites across the nation, we recognize some students’ need to continue their training locally. As such, we established the Northwest Suburban Internship Consortium (NSIC) in 2012, which has since been awarded membership status with the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC). NSIC placements are reserved for our clinical students only.
In terms of funding, we offer numerous teaching assistantships, graduate assistantships and a wide range of scholarships. Additionally, we are committed to educating students about numerous loan-repayment programs, such as the National Institute of Health (NIH), Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF), National Health Service Corp Loan Repayment Program, Federal Student Loan Repayment Program, Indian Health Services Loan Repayment Program and Faculty Loan Repayment Program.
We also are extremely proud of our outstanding faculty who excel in both teaching and scholarship. Most recently one of our distinguished faculty members, Dr. Rhonda Goldman won a national early career award from division 32 of the APA for her outstanding contributions to the field of humanistic psychology. Feel free to review all of our faculty and their accomplishments in our faculty biographies.
Please let us know if you have specific questions about our programs or more general questions about professional training in clinical psychology. We look forward to hearing from you.
Cameron Brewer, Ph.D.
