Schaumburg’s Robert Eme Authors Article “How Serious is ADHD?”

Robert Eme, Ph.D., professor of Clinical Psychology at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University | Schaumburg, recently published an article in the Journal of General Practice. “How Serious is ADHD?” investigates evidence that establishes ADHD as brain disorder associated with a set of well-defined symptoms that causes serious impairment in many life activities.

Schaumburg’s Robert Eme Authors Article Published in World Journal of Psychiatry

Robert Eme, Ph.D., professor of Clinical Psychology at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University | Schaumburg recently published an article in the World Journal of Psychiatry

Eme’s article is titled “Developmental psychopathology: A primer for clinical pediatrics.”

The article’s abstract states that “developmental psychopathology (DP), broadly defined as the scientific discipline that has as its primary goal the integration of developmental science and psychopathology into a coherent approach to explanatory models for psychopathological development, has become the do­minant approach in the past decade for understanding the origins of mental disorders among children and adolescents. Hence, it is incumbent upon those working in the field of clinical pediatrics to have at least a basic understanding of its core principles of DP. This article provided such an understanding (i.e., a primer) in an exposition of the four principles that are generally considered be core elements of with examples illustrative of each of the principles.”

Please join us to hear alumni of the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Schaumburg discuss their learning experience and where their education has taken them today. This will also be an opportunity to learn more about our curriculum, clinical training opportunities and to discuss admissions information.

PRESENTERS:

DR. ARINA POLEVOY
Dr. Polevoy completed her internship specializing in Clinical Neuropsychology at the Illinois Psychological Association Predoctoral Internship Consortium (IPAPIC), Psychological Consultations. Her internship experience involved assessment and treatment of individuals impacted by HIV as well as specialized treatment working with LGBTQ clients. Dr. Polevoy received her Doctorate from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Schaumburg in 2015 with a concentration in Neuropsychology.

She completed two-year post doctoral training at Northwest Behavioral Health Services as well as Thomson Memory Center, focusing on neuropsychological evaluations of pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations. Her clinical interests are in the area of assessment of a variety of clinical presentations including traumatic-brain injuries, HIV-related disorders, ADHD, Substance Use Disorders, and dementia.

VICTORIYA TSANAN

Dr. Tsaran is a licensed clinical psychologist. She graduated from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Schaumburg in 2014. Dr. Tsaran completed her internship and post-doc at Bridge View Challenger Day School where she had the opportunity to work with children, adolescents and teenagers presenting with a variety of emotional issues and in need of an individualized education plan. Since then, Dr. Victoriya Tsaran opened her private practice located in Buffalo Grove. She works with a wide range of ages from adolescents to geriatric population presenting with a variety of symptoms and concerns. Her clinical interests include couples therapy, family therapy, adolescent issues, parental guidance and personality disorders. Dr. Tsaran has developed an eclectic perspective to therapy and utilizes a unique combination of psychotherapy, family systems therapy, emotion focused therapy and cognitive behavioral techniques.

DR. KRISTEN CARNEY | Dr. Carney serves as the Associate Director of Clinical Training for the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at ISPP, Schaumburg. She earned her doctorate degree from Wheaton College where she focused on the area of clinical psychology and completed additional coursework on the
integration of spirituality and psychology.

DR. CAMERON BREWER | Dr. Brewer serves as the Program Dean of the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at ISPP Schaumburg and also coordinates the program’s neuropsychology concentration. Dr. Brewer also holds a MLitt research degree in cognitive neuroscience from the University of Glasgow, United Kingdom, where he applied event-related potentials to an investigation of word recognition.
