Letter from the Dean

Dear Prospective Student,

Thank you for your interest in our American Psychological Association (APA) accredited Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology Program at The American School of Professional Psychology—Southern California at Argosy University | Southern California. We are proud of our commitment to educational excellence and to training students in acquiring the requisite skills to become outstanding psychological practitioners and professionals.

Our graduates develop strong core competencies in the following areas of clinical psychology: psychopathology, assessment, intervention, basic science, research methods, ethics and legal parameters of practice, and multicultural factors.

We invite students from a diverse background into a dynamic and intimate learning environment. Our students are exposed to a rigorous curriculum, but are provided with professional guidance and direction in a highly supportive manner by a devoted and accessible faculty. The ASPP faculty is comprised of a diverse group of content experts, who are exemplary teachers, scholars and practitioners, and who are deeply committed to the mentorship of graduate students in clinical psychology.

We encourage a deep commitment to personal growth throughout the curriculum, especially with respect to learning about social and cultural differences. Students have many opportunities to get engaged in student groups, service projects, study abroad opportunities, and collaborations with faculty on professional presentations and publications.

At ASPP, we care deeply about our relationships with students, and our faculty and supervisors provide close mentoring while students develop their clinical skills on their practicum experiences. For internship training, our students have the option of applying to our own Southern California Internship Consortium – a great benefit to students who desire to remain in Southern California.

Please let us know if you have specific questions about our master’s or doctoral program* –or more general questions about professional training in clinical psychology. We look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you again for your interest in our program.

Sincerely,

Gary S. Bruss, Ph.D.
