Letter From The Dean

Dear Prospective Doctoral Student,

I am excited that you are interested in our Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology program here at the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, San Francisco Bay Area, an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited doctoral program. We are proud of our institution’s teaching excellence, diverse academic environment, and community engagement. Building on our legacy of teaching and training clinical psychologists, we invite students into a diverse, dynamic, and intimate community of practitioner-scholars. Our faculty represent a breadth of perspectives and specific areas of expertise. This, combined with our rigorous curriculum, provides students many opportunities to pursue their particular and individual interests.

A centerpiece of our doctoral curriculum has been our required Professionalization Group and Practicum Seminar sequence, where experiential learning in a group format emphasizes students’ personal, interpersonal, and professional development. We encourage a deep commitment to personal growth throughout the curriculum, especially with respect to considering social and cultural differences and professional ethics. Students have a number of opportunities to get engaged in student groups and committees, as well as collaborations with faculty on professional presentations and publications.

Here at ASPP-SF, you will be joining a diverse community of students who are active, engaged, collaborative, and socially conscious. We care deeply about our relationships with students and we are committed to helping y fulfill your academic, life, and professional goals. Our faculty and supervisors provide close mentoring while students develop their clinical skills through our on-campus Assessment Clinic, in our Intensive Clinical Training program, or through practicum experiences located throughout the Bay Area.

Please let us know if you have any questions about our PsyD program or general questions about pursuing professional training in Clinical Psychology. We’re looking forward to helping you reach and surpass your potential.
