Argosy University and Best Buy Announce Partnership to Advance Education and Training for Best Buy Employees

ORANGE, CALIF. (May 15, 2018) — Argosy University has partnered with Best Buy to offer its employees more ways to advance their education.

All full- and part-time Best Buy employees, regardless of how many hours they work and including seasonal employees, can receive a 20 percent savings on the tuition rate when they attend one of the programs offered at Argosy University. The partnership tuition rate will apply to eligible students who are employees of Best Buy and who apply to, are accepted to, and attend one of the undergraduate or graduate degree programs at Argosy University after January 1, 2018. Employees who are already enrolled at Argosy University are also eligible on classes moving forward. Additionally, Best Buy offers tuition assistance for employees who pursue higher education.

Argosy University (www.argosy.edu), with 26 campus locations in 13 states and online, is a private, nonprofit academic institution dedicated to providing undergraduate and graduate degree programs to students through its eight colleges: College of Clinical Psychology, College of Counseling, Psychology and Social Sciences, Graduate School of Business and Management, College of Education, College of Health Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Creative Arts and Design and Western State College of Law at Argosy University.

The award is sponsored by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, APA Divisions 28, and APA Division 50.

Student Awarded 2017 American Psychological Association Division 39 Graduate Student Scholar Award

Kyle Kermott, student in the Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology program at the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University | San Francisco Bay Area was awarded the 2017 American Psychological Association Division 39 Graduate Student Scholar Award.

Founded in 1979, the Division of Psychoanalysis is the 39th division of APA. With more than 3,000 doctoral level psychologists, graduate students and allied mental health professionals, it is one of the largest associations of psychoanalytic professionals and scholars in the world.

Dr. Megan O’Banion named the 2017 President-Elect of the National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology

Dr. Megan O’Banion, dean and director of clinical training at the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University | San Francisco Bay Area, was named the 2017 President-Elect of the National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology.

The National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology (NCSPP) was founded in 1976 to enhance the quality of graduate training in professional psychology. NCSPP is an organization composed of delegates from member programs and schools of professional psychology.

Dr. O’Banion obtained her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from The Wright Institute in Berkeley, California. She completed her APA accredited doctoral internship and her postdoctoral fellowship at Sharp Healthcare’s Child and Adolescent Acute Inpatient Program. Dr. O’Banion has engaged in neuropsychological research exploring neurocognitive endophenotypic markers in youth identified as ultra-high risk for schizophrenia with a UCSF Langley Porter and the San Francisco Veteran’s Administration collaboration. Her specialization with highly acute multi-stressed youth and their families propelled Dr. O’Banion into an early career as a director of elementary school and middle school day treatment programs.

Additionally, she has also maintained a practice focused on clinical consultation for child and adolescent residential and day treatment program where she specializes in staff development, risk assessment, treatment planning, and milieu management.

Megan O’Banion, PsyD, Program Dean

Dr. O’Banion’s clinical service and research experiences range from Seneca Center to UCSF Langley Porter Institute’s Department of Psychiatry. Her training led her to an Doctoral Internship (APA accredited) and Fellowship at Sharp Healthcare where she specialized in youth and family treatment and assessment, clinical team management, and evidence-based program development/evaluation within an acute-care setting. She continues to be a leader in the local and national Health Service Psychology education and training community.
