Courtney E. A. Conley is an Assistant Professor of counseling at Argosy University in Northern Virginia. Dr. Conley is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Maryland, National Certified Counselor, and Certified School Counselor. She specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families from a wide range of multicultural backgrounds. During her time as a school counselor, Dr. Conley spent her career helping adolescents overcome barriers in order to achieve their educational and career goals. As an AVID-trained (Advancement Via Individual Determination) counselor she has worked in schools that have adopted this national program designed to help first generation and low income students access educational opportunities. Prior to Dr. Conley’s work within the school setting, she worked as a mobile therapist providing in-home counseling services to children/adolescents and as a crisis counselor at a sexual assault center in the D.C. area. Dr. Conley has served as the Vice President for the Maryland School Counseling Association and has presented regionally and nationally on topics such as school counselor supervision, using research in schools, and intervention strategies to foster adolescent achievement.
