THE GOALS OF THE WORKSHOP ARE:
Coping with loss and grief is a normal part of living. Counselors, in working with clients, are often confronted with issues that result from current or past losses, which are impacting on their lives. Emphasis in this course will be on developing an understanding and awareness of the effect of loss on one’s life.
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to identify:
1) The concept of Uncomplicated Grief
2) Categories of losses
3) Myths about grief and loss
4) Affective, cognitive, physical and behavioral responses to loss
5) Worden's model of grief facilitation
6) Internal and external factors that affect the grief process
7) Grief facilitation strategies
Please be aware: This event is designed specifically for licensed mental health counselors and supervisors. Registering presumes a previous knowledge and clinical experience in this area.

PRESENTER:
Beverly Mustaine, Ed.D., LMHC, NCC
Dr. Mustaine joined Argosy University in 2006 and serves as a professor in the College of Counseling, Psychology and Social Sciences at Argosy University, Sarasota. She is a national certified counselor, a certified clinical mental health counselor, a certified bereavement facilitator, and a licensed mental health counselor in Florida. She is also an approved clinical supervisor through the Center for Credentialing. Dr. Mustaine has worked in outpatient mental health facilities, community counseling agencies, private practice, and college counseling centers. She currently has a small private practice in Sarasota specializing in grief and loss counseling.
