Carlos Zaldivar is an architectural designer responsible for marketing, public relations, networking, social media, and proposal writing. He is proud to announce that one of the company’s first customers was solidified through his social media outreach.
Carlos earned an undergraduate degree in Architecture from Pratt Institute in New York City before pursuing a Master of Science in Management, Management from Argosy University, Online Programs. He completed his Master’s degree in 2009. “It’s [taken a lot of work] to find myself as a partner of a start-up architecture services company in San Antonio, and I'm very optimistic that even though we're in the ‘begging’ stage and [experiencing] growing pains, we'll have great success finding many clients that want our architecture design work,” he says.
Carlos earned a design award for his work on a three-story home in Lake Texoma, Texas. His work has also been featured in the local San Antonio newspaper. Getting to this place in his career hasn’t always been easy and he strongly recommends that current students be persistent in working toward their goals, even if it means donating their time. “I have always been passionate about being involved in pro-bono work. I have co-organized large banquets for an elementary schools and for a camp for hearing-impaired children.” Carlos also mentors students in an after school program, helping them with homework.
He says that his education at Argosy University, Online Programs, taught him how to communicate efficiently. Carlos admits that being in an online program was challenging at first, because he was used to working with people in person. Today he says that overcoming that challenge provided an opportunity for growth—and he built strong relationships with both his instructors and classmates. He adds that his instructors empowered him to learn the tools needed to be successful in his industry. “The professionalism and level of expertise [of my instructors] was a sign of leadership and good example to follow.”
Programs, credential levels, technology, and scheduling options vary by school and are subject to change. Not all online programs are available to residents of all U.S. states.
