(Atlanta, Ga. – August 26, 2013) Argosy University, Atlanta is proud to announce its induction into the Cold Case Investigative Research Institute (CCIRI). Through the institute, students in the Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology degree programs at the university will work as part of a team to bring resolution to unsolved criminal cases.
Founded by Sheryl McCollum, a national expert in cold case investigations and crime scene analysis, the CCIRI provides assistance to law enforcement and the families of the victims to help bring closure to unsolved cases. The CCIRI collaboration is a partnership between Auburn University Montgomery, Faulkner University, Argosy University, Atlanta and Bauder College that brings together researchers, practitioners, and the criminal justice community to develop new capabilities and work collectively to advance research, training, and techniques in solving cold cases. CCIRI gives students the means, resources, and guidance to determine the solvability of actual unsolved crimes.
“We are honored to be inducted into the CCIRI,” says Duanne Thompson, Chair of Criminal Justice programs at Argosy University, Atlanta. “Our involvement in the organization will strengthen the educational experience for our students, providing them with insight into and experience with careers in criminal justice fields and, we hope, will bring some needed assistance with regard to addressing previously unsolved cases.”
