Argosy University, Los Angeles Supports AFSP's Community Walk

(Los Angeles, September 2015)  Argosy University, Los Angeles will be sponsoring the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s “Out of the Darkness” community walk on Oct. 17 in Santa Monica. Los Angeles County Supervisor, Sheila Kuehl, and Brandy Fisher, Miss California 2014, will be attending the event.

Fisher will be speaking during the opening ceremony and has shared with the public her own experience with suicide when she was 11 years old. She developed a strong passion and desire to help others cope with losing a loved one and has made it her life mission to speak out about suicide loss and prevention.

Team Argosy University is being led by Amy Robinson, director of student services at Argosy University, Los Angeles.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. With more than 38,000 lives lost each year in the U.S. and more than one million worldwide, the importance of AFSP's mission has never been greater. Argosy University, Los Angeles is proud to be sponsoring and participating in this event.

Held in hundreds of communities across the U.S. each year, these walks raise money for AFSP's vital programs to prevent suicide and save lives. The goal of this year’s walk is to not only increase community participation, but also to raise the necessary funds to continue services in southern California.
