Argosy University, Phoenix Hosts Red Cross Training

(Phoenix, May 2015)  On April 24, 2015, Argosy University, Phoenix, the Grand Canyon Chapter of The Arizona Red Cross and Arizona Trauma Recover Network (AZTRN) presented free trainings in Psychological First Aid & Disaster Mental Health for AZTRN volunteers. The event was held at Argosy Phoenix, and Stephanie Vitanza Ph.D., Professor and Chair of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, taught the courses.

The courses provided participants a framework for dealing with stress responses in disaster relief work. Participants also learned to make the transition from day-to-day mental health services to delivering mental health services during a disaster. Thirty-five people from the community took part in the training
