Argosy University, Sarasota Announces Commencement Exercises

(SARASOTA, Flo. – June 1, 2012)   Argosy University, Sarasota announces its 2012 commencement exercises. Taking place on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 10 am at the VanWezel Performing Arts Center in Sarasota, the event will honor 185 graduates from the campus’ College of Business, College of Health Sciences, College of Education, College of Undergraduate Studies and College of Psychology & Behavioral Sciences.

Manatee County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Tim McGonegal will serve as the keynote speaker at the event. McGonegal, who holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership, Argosy University, Sarasota, worked in the Finance Division of the School Board of Highlands County from 1986 to 2002. He joined the Manatee School District in January 2002. In February 2005, he was appointed Assistant Superintendent for Business Services. On January 1, 2009, he began the role of Superintendent of Manatee County Schools.

Under the leadership and direction of Dr. McGonegal, the district has been awarded the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award and the Association of School Business Officials Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting. He serves on the Boards of Manatee Glens, Manatee Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Manatee County, Manatee County Substance Abuse Coalition, Florida Association of District School Superintendents, and the Florida School Music Association. He was named the 2012 Superintendent of the Year by the Florida Music Educators’ Association.
