SARASOTA, FL (Oct. 20, 2012) - Argosy University, Sarasota Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling student Monica Miller Long has been awarded the Licensed Professional Counselor Association of North Carolina (LPCANC) Nancy Howell Scholarship.
The LPCANC promotes the development of licensed professional counselors through professional excellence and advocacy. LPCANC provides a voice for public policy, directs the activities of their professional lobbyist, and responds to the continuing education needs of licensed professional counselors in North Carolina.
The Nancy Howell Scholarship Award is designed to acknowledge graduate students who demonstrate leadership potential as counseling students and as a future licensed professional counselors. This Scholarship provides student members of LPCANC a monetary award for student involvement in counseling. In addition to the monetary award, the recipients are provided the opportunity to volunteer working with the LPCANC Board and membership to foster professional relationships and inform students on the needs and concerns of the counseling profession.
According to the LPCANC site, “These scholarship monies are awarded to well deserving counseling graduate students as a way to recognize their hard work, potential and commitment to the counseling profession.”
