The NICISM team is a volunteer and not-for profit organization in northern Illinois, consisting of law enforcement, fire/EMS, telecommunications, mental health and chaplain professionals who provide crisis stress management services to first responder agencies. This team is the most active in the state, and one of the most active responder support networks in the country.
The biannual ICISF regional training conference focused on issues related to intervention with crisis with various populations and settings, including schools, hospitals, and communities. This training initiative will help to provide a foundation for preparedness to respond to community and agency crisis and prevention of post-traumatic stress among responders to crisis. Additionally, NICISM selected presented a scholarship for a student to attend the three day introductory Individual and Group Basic Skills course.
