A group of Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology students from Argosy University, Twin Cities traveled to Costa Rica to with VIDA Volunteer Travel to help animals in need.
VIDA Volunteer Travel is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that helps provide free basic medical, dental, and veterinary assistance to needy communities in Central America.
The first day of the trip, students visited the VIDA Volunteer office in San Jose, Costa Rica and we were able to meet the veterinarian and the veterinary technician they would be traveling with. They spent two days in a small town named Quetzal working in a clinic. The students placed catheters, intubated, and pre-medicated surgical patients. In addition, they were able to assist in surgeries on the animals. In total, the students helped a total of 71 animals.
