Assists Older Individuals with Behavioral Health Concerns, Organizing Bullying Awareness Conference
Terry Driskill is a licensed professional counselor who runs his own practice in Louisiana. He also works at two nursing homes to assist older adults who have behavioral health concerns. Terry is organizing a conference in Louisiana to address the serious issues of bullying and teen suicide. In addition to these commitments, Terry is currently working toward a Doctor of Education in Counseling Psychology at Argosy University, Online Programs. His dissertation focuses on the topic of bullying.
Terry enjoys giving back to his community through service. He’s a Sunday school teacher at his Baptist church and serves as a court appointed special advocate for abused and neglected children. “I’ve also served as a volunteer firefighter and as an emergency medical technician volunteer in Louisiana and Texas.”
He says that studying online requires planning and dedication. “You need to have a plan to do your work online. It takes lots of discipline. Talk and communicate with your instructors and save your work. You will need it when you take your comprehensives.” Terry adds that the biggest challenge for him has been setting aside time for his studies. “It has been a challenge writing my dissertation.”
Terry chose to attend Argosy University, Online Programs because he loves to learn. He’d already earned one master’s degree but decided to pursue a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology because he wanted to continue his professional growth. He graduated in 2013 and immediately began his Doctoral studies. “I selected Argosy because it was the best choice and the best fit for me. It has made me a more disciplined person who can set goals and achieve those goals.”
He says that “Argosy University, Online Programs wants you to succeed in your endeavors and everyone works to help you to achieve that goal. Everyone is on the team with the goal of making you have success in your degree program.” Terry is grateful for the staff and faculty at the school, who he describes as professionals in their fields. “The professors enjoy seeing their students succeed.”
