As a clinician, it is important to “walk the walk” in terms of cultural competence in clinical practice and teaching. General themes of this panel will include finding a balance of lighting a fire under ourselves (as individual students/faculty/professionals), our institution, and our field. We will also discuss creating necessary spaces for difficult dialogues, supporting ourselves and each other, and affirming that our field holds essential keys to addressing the complexity of cultural competence. Students will be encouraged, but not required, to participate.
Scott Pytluk, PhD, ABPP is a Professor at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Chicago (ISPP).
Rahul Sharma, PsyD, is an Assistant Professor and the coordinator of the Diversity concentration at ISPP.
