Dr. John Robbins to Present at American Counseling Association Conference

Dr. John Robbins, director of training for the marriage and family therapy program at Argosy University, Salt Lake City was recently accepted to present at the American Counseling Association 2017 Conference & Expo in San Francisco, CA in March.  His presentation is titled Self-Supervision and Self-Growth: Developing the Autonomous Practitioner.

  

Dr. Robbins holds a PhD, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Utah, and an American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor.  He also serves as the Chair of the elections committee for the Utah Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Previously, he served as director for the TEAM Program (Teaching Excellence through Active Means); an interactive, group treatment program designed primarily for at-risk children, adolescents, and their families.

 

Dr. Robbins has been with Argosy University, Salt Lake City, for six years. He served for over 20 years as a therapist, instructor, and supervisor in the marriage and family therapy field in Texas, North Carolina, and Kentucky. Additionally, he volunteers as the primary grant writer and Trustee on the Board for the Women’s Retreat House, a spiritual recovery center for women in Ogden, Utah. In 2000, he received national acclaim in USA Today for his work in the area of integrating spirituality and psychotherapy. His book with the Haworth Press, entitled The Power of Spirituality in Therapy: Integrating Spiritual and Religious Beliefs in Mental Health Practice, was published in 2004.
