Nahid Aziz, Psy.D., is the 2016 recipient of the Anthony J. Marsella, Ph.D. Award for Peace and Justice by Psychologists for Social Responsibility (PsySR). Dr. Aziz is an associate professor of Psychology, American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Northern Virginia.
Psychologists for Social Responsibility is an international organization dedicated to advancing peace and justice through the knowledge, application, and ethical foundations of psychology. The award is presented to individuals who have demonstrated an enduring commitment to advancing the human condition through individual and collective acts of abiding courage and service. It was presented to Dr. Aziz at the American Psychological Association convention in Denver, Colorado on Thursday, August 4, 2016.
“It is a tremendous honor for me to receive this award, as it is given to individuals who have dedicated their lives to promote social justice, work in the area of human rights, peace and non-violence,” said Dr. Aziz. “I feel very proud to have received this award.”
The Anthony J. Marsella, Ph.D. Award for Peace and Justice was founded by friends, colleagues, and students of Professor Anthony J. Marsella. Anthony Marsella is an Emeritus Professor of Psychology at the University of Hawaii. In the twelve years since its inception, the award has recognized fourteen eminent psychologists.
