Establishes Presidential Leadership Award to Outstanding Students

The President's Leadership Award is an opportunity for Argosy University, Twin Cities Campus to recognize students who have demonstrated the talents, drive and initiative to mark them as future leaders in their profession.

The award encourages student achievement and strengthens the school's relationship with future alumni leaders. Here are examples of some students who were recipients of thiws award in recognition for their achievements.

Marty Crep
Radiologic Technology
Marty received an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Radiologic Technology in December 2005. He took classes in the evening student and maintained a high academic average and balanced his academic life with the demands of a full-time job and family.

Sarah Ringdahl
Medical Assisting
Sarah pursued an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Medical Assisting, with an anticipated graduation date of September 2005. According to faculty, she demonstrated a strong commitment to the Medical Assisting profession and applied herself fully to the material in her classes.

Gretchen Flynn
Dental Hygiene
Gretchen completed her Associate of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene in April 2005. In her pursuit of her degree, Gretchen was an outstanding leader in her class, as well as an officer in the Student American Dental Hygiene Association. She has represented Argosy University, Twin Cities Campus and the Dental Hygiene Department at the Admissions High School Open House and The Art Institute International Minnesota's Community Health Fair.

Gena Schaepe
Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Gena Schaepe, who received an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography in August 2005, consistently provided respectful and professional leadership for fellow students. She was a teaching assistant in the diagnostic scanning labs and assisted fellow students in the school's Open Scanning Laboratory. She also tutored students within her program and in General Education classes during the past year.

Fred Seeman
Veterinary Technology
Fred completed his Associate of Applied Science Degree in Veterinary Technology in June 2005. He was nominated for this award by several faculty who cited his abilities to work independently, his interpersonal skills, and dedication to quality as outstanding characteristics.

Becky Van Tassell
Radiation Therapy
Becky attended clinical training at the Cancer Care Institute in Rapid City, South Dakota has been a great ambassador from Argosy University, Twin Cities Campus for the program there. She received an Associate of Science Degree in Radiation Therapy in December 2005.

Rachel Willemssen
Medical Laboratory Technology
Rachel pursued an Associate of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with an August 2005 graduate date. According to her faculty, she possessed an outstanding working knowledge of the Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) curriculum at Argosy University, Twin Cities Campus. Rachel had a positive attitude about teamwork and helped the program by working as a Laboratory Assistant and as a tutor.

Jeff Davies
Master of Arts Marriage and Family Therapy
Jeff, who is pursuing a Master of Arts Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, served on the Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) Programs Internal Student Review Panel as a student representative, working directly with the department chair on various assignments. Jeff was also the MFT representative and treasurer of the Argosy University Graduate Student Senate.

Kelly Smith
Bachelor of Arts Psychology
Kelly completed the requirements for her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in chemical dependency and graduated in August 2005, while exceeding the minimum requirements for her degree. Kelly enjoys sharing her experience in the chemical dependency concentration program with other students.

Kevin Davis
Masters in Business Administration-Healthcare Administration Concentration
Kevin received a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Administration in April 2005. Kevin impressed his faculty with his understanding of the healthcare industry, and his ability to analyze complex business situations.

Susan Welnel
Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology
While studying to receive a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology, Susan maintained a leadership role in student activities, serving for two years as a member of the graduate student senate. She organized a forum on options for private practice, served as a student member of the Institutional Review Board, served as a student member of the school's disciplinary Appeals Committee, and was a volunteer student mentor. She received her degree in June 2006.

Tammy Gifford
Bachelor of Science in Organization Management
Tammy was the first undergraduate student to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Organization Management at Argosy University, Twin Cities Campus, in April 2005. She overcame physical hardships due to an automobile accident and successfully persevered in her studies, maintaining a high GPA and possessing an endearing and positive spirit.
