Dr. Karen Rawls, faculty, Argosy University, Northern Virginia was recently inducted as the president of the Northern Virginia Nurses chapter of the Virginia Nurses Association. The chapter has a membership of over 250 licensed professional nurses.
Dr. Rawls is new to the Virginia area and joined Argosy University, Northern Virginia as the nursing program chair. Dr. Rawls graduated with honors from Capella University in 2016, receiving her Doctorate of Philosophy in Education with a specialty in Nursing Education and Nursing Research. She worked previously as residency manager and clinical placement coordinator for Grady Health Systems in Atlanta, Georgia.
In her role as chapter president, Dr. Rawls will engage in leadership strategies that advocate for healthcare policy, improve workplace safety, collaborate with uniting one voice in nursing, champion interdisciplinary care and support educational opportunities for the nursing profession. The role includes national strategic planning responsibilities with the American Nurses Association.
