Graduate Provides Care to Patients Who Otherwise Would Not Have Access To Mental Health Services

2009, Doctor of Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Argosy University, Seattle

Anya Zimberoff is a psychologist for HealthPoint. She was hired for the position after completing an internship with the company. “I provide behavioral health, integrated in primary care, to patients who otherwise would not be able to access mental health services. In addition, I help primary care physicians to help patients with life style changes and health care management,” she says.

Anya often stays up late making calls to patients—she’s become an integral part of her clinic’s problem solving team. She also enjoys providing trainings for other staff, and she often attends conferences just as the International Trauma Society conference.

She adds that getting a doctorate is difficult. “Working for an organization that serves underserved populations is both meaningful and can help with loan repayments.” But completing the program on time in five years, including an internship, was challenging. She is proud to have finished the program while raising four school-aged children with her husband.

Anya chose to attend Argosy University, Seattle because she respected the professors who taught there. She also appreciated the fact that the school was local and she didn’t need to relocate her family to continue her education. “My clinical psychology instructors were outstanding and gave us a sense of what our profession and work would be like by bringing in case studies.”

Anya, who in 2009 earned a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University, Seattle, says that earning her degree allowed her to become a licensed professional in Washington. “I feel very well prepared professionally and the content of the education was highly applicable. I also felt I had good support to complete my dissertation. My dissertation advisor remains an amazing mentor to me even now, and we stay in contact even years after my graduation.”
