Rising Entrepreneurs of Minnesota Competition Awards Prizes to Students from Shakopee and Stillwater High Schools

Argosy University, Twin Cities played host over 50 students from three area high schools at the university’s first-ever “Rising Entrepreneurs of Minnesota” business plan competition on Friday, February 9, 2018.

Students from Edison High School, Shakopee High School and Stillwater High School submitted business plans ahead of the competition for consideration by a judging panel of 10 Twin Cites-area entrepreneurs. Three teams from Shakopee and Stillwater were named winners in the competition.

At the event, each team had five minutes to “pitch” two of the judges. Top teams from the first round moved on to a workshop with their judge to polish and perfect their pitches. The final round of competition included a presentation to the entire panel of 10 judges and a question answer session.

Top honors in the day’s events went to Phineus Rob and Zach Greenwood from Shakopee High School for their business plan about their new web app “Event Horizon.”  They each received their choice of a $4,000 tuition scholarship to attend a bachelor’s degree program or a $2,000 tuition scholarship to attend an associate degree program at Argosy University, Twin Cities.

Second place went to Cody Vesnke, Holton King and Thoms Johnson from Stillwater High School for their “Electronic Umpire” business plan. Each received their choice of a $2,000 tuition scholarship to attend a bachelor’s degree program or a $1,000 tuition scholarship to attend an associate degree program at Argosy University, Twin Cities. Grace Myler and Visa Sok from Shakopee High School were awarded third place with a presentation of their “Teen Snack Pack.”
