Shante Norton is working as a school counselor at Pinellas County Schools in Florida. She’s a sixth grade counselor and is licensed in guidance and counseling for Pre-K through 12th grade.
As she prepares to start her sixth year with the school district, Shante is proud that she chose to return to school to obtain her Master of Arts in Education in Educational Leadership. She adds that she was hired for her current position while still working toward her advanced degree at Argosy University, Sarasota.
Shante admits that it wasn’t easy to work her way through the program. Her mother passed away just one month after Shante began her studies. She also had a baby while earning her Master’s degree and had to negotiate motherhood, education, and financial challenges. But Shante persevered and she recommends that current students stay focused—just as she did.
Shante chose to attend Argosy University, Sarasota, because her mentor attended the University and had a positive experience at the school. She says that the school prepared her for her career through its strong instruction, knowledgeable professors, and rigorous course schedule. She earned a Master of Arts in Education in Educational Leadership from Argosy University, Sarasota in 2012.
Today, she takes pride in helping others. She states that one of the high points in her career thus far has been the praise she’s received from school administrators for the work that she’s done with her students.
