(EAGAN, MN July 2015) - Argosy University, Twin Cities will host its annual Dog Wash on the west lawn of the Eagan campus at 1515 Central Parkway, Eagan, MN, on Wednesday, July 29 from 4-7 pm. Dog owners are welcome to bring all well-behaved canines who are up-to-date on their shots for a free wash (donations welcome), a micro-chip ($25) and/or a nail trim ($8). Proceeds from the event will go to the Bonifacius MN-based animal rescue service, Corner of Kindness.
Members of the Student Chapter of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (SCNAVTA) will organize and host the event. Co-sponsoring the event are Minnesota-based Chuck & Don’s pet supply stores; Invisible Fence of Eagan; Wagging Tails Pet Resort in Eagan; and Cut it Out, a local temporary glitter tattoo service.
Under the direction of doctors of veterinary medicine and certified veterinary technician instructors, Argosy University’s veterinary technician students are prepared for certification and careers in the veterinary industry. Each semester, dogs and cats are brought to campus from area shelters. These animals provide students the opportunity to learn while improving not only the health of the animals, but also their chances of adoption. Animals are bathed, spayed/neutered, receive dental cleaning, get required shots and are cured of illness before moving on to foster homes and potential adoption. In addition to Corner of Kindness, other rescue groups benefitting from the Veterinary Technology (AAS) program include Secondhand Hounds of Hopkins, Last Hope of Farmington, and the Humane Society of Goodhue County.
