Regional Sales Manager for Tyson Foods, Inc.
Andrew Sauter is a regional sales manager for Tyson Foods, Inc. He works with
operators that handle food operations for K-12 schools, healthcare and
multi-unit restaurant concepts. “My influence spreads throughout the entire
sales process, ranging from product selection to profit and loss management,
trends and menu ideas and social media platforms,” he said.
Sauter began his professional career in the agriculture
sector at private golf clubs after earning a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture
from Pennsylvania State University. When he decided to return to his family
roots and work within the food and hospitality industry, he quickly found that
he needed an advanced degree to reach his career goals.
“I applied and was accepted to Argosy University, Twin Cities to better my
business acumen and career trajectory,” he stated. “After my first year of
school, I was fortunate to get a start as a marking manager for a small, multi-unit
restaurant concept that had 50 stores. I moved on to a larger company in the
distribution world and within 14 months was promoted to a district sales manager
position.” When the company was purchased, Sauter stayed on to lead the
transition. In 2016, he began his current job as regional sales manager for
Tyson Foods’ Central Division—covering Minnesota and Wisconsin.
He added that current students need to network and stay focused on their
education to stand out amongst other job seekers. Sauter proved his worth in
the workplace when he was able to demonstrate his knowledge of business models
and methods. “You get out of education what you put into education,” he stated.
Sauter chose Argosy
University, Twin Cities because it allowed him to attend classes during nights
and weekends while he worked two jobs. His professors guided him down a
successful path through their real-world industry knowledge. “The school had instructors
working in well-respected companies within Minnesota—and globally,” he said.
The candor and ability to be creative while in the classroom helped excel and
accelerate our learning experience across the spectrum.”
Sauter, who in 2011 earned a Master of Business Administration in Business
Administration from Argosy University Twin Cities, says that his education
opened opportunities that otherwise would not have been available. Now, he
gives back to the university by helping current students with projects and
providing insights from his career experience.
Sauter’s professional accomplishments at Tyson Foods include:
· Building and initiating a customer business review system;
· Working on a Green Belt Six Sigma certification that improved the company’s working relationship with its broker partner agency;
· Being accepted into the company’s mentorship program;
· Working directly with the vice president of foodservice sales to spearhead an ideation platform that brought high volume customers into Tyson’s test kitchen to work on menus and trends; and
· Bringing on board a large customer and helping to customize nine proprietary items that added significant new business in the 2017-18 fiscal year.
