Argosy Professor Receives a Great Honor

Nahid Aziz, PsyD is the 2016 recipient of the Anthony J. Marsella, Ph.D., Award for Peace and Justice by Psychologists for Social Responsibility (PsySR). Dr. Nahid Aziz is an associate professor of Psychology, American School of Professional Psychology, at Argosy University, Washington, DC. Each year, Psychologists for Social Responsibility, an international organization dedicated to advancing peace and justice through the knowledge, application, and ethical foundations of psychology. The award is presented to individuals who have demonstrated an enduring commitment to advancing the human condition through individual and collective acts of abiding courage and service. The award was presented to Dr. Aziz at the American Psychological Association convention in Denver, Colorado on Thursday, August 4, 2016. 


“It is a tremendous honor for me to receive this award as it is given to individuals who have dedicated their life to promote social justice, work in the area of human rights, peace and non-violence,” said Dr. Aziz. “I feel very proud to have received this award.”

This award was founded by friends, colleagues, and students to honor the contributions of Professor Anthony J. Marsella. Anthony Marsella is an Emeritus Professor of Psychology at the University of Hawaii. In the twelve years since its inception, the award has recognized fourteen eminent psychologists. It is a distinguished list of awardees, and Dr. Aziz, adds luster to the list, as its newest member.
