The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Celebrates Graduation
The Art Institute of Pittsburgh recently celebrated the achievements of the 2012 graduates with the annual Portfolio Show and Commencement Ceremony.
Portfolio Show gives graduates the opportunity to showcase their work to fellow students, faculty members, and potential employers. The exhibitors at this year’s event really took the chance to be innovative and created some exceptional displays.
The Show took place at Heinz Field, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Participants had the rare opportunity to be in the stands of the empty stadium and pose for some memorable photos!
The next day the graduation celebrations continued with the Commencement Ceremony held at the historic Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall.
Our keynote speaker, Miyoshi Anderson, spoke about her experience as an actress, fashion model, and fashion show coordinator. She gave graduates words of encouragement and advice about perseverance.
Graphic Design instructor Michael Malle was named the winner of the 2012 Inez Hall Outstanding Faculty Award. He instructed graduates to remember that “this is not the end of the journey, but only the beginning.”
Art Institute of Pittsburgh president, George W. Sebolt, completed the ceremony by awarding diplomas to more than 250 students, with almost 100 of those being fully online students. Graduates lined up with diplomas in hand to capture this incredible moment in their creative journey at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh – Online Division Graduation Photobooth. The pictures they took could be instantly shared to friends and family who weren’t able to make it to the ceremony.
