What Would You Do with One Million Pop-Tarts?
That was the question posed to Pop-Tart Facebook fans in the “Pop it Forward Contest.” The premise of the contest was simple, for each entrant to come up with the best answer, as judged by other Facebookers. The winner of the contest was Tyler Kozar, a campus-based student at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. As one might expect of an Art Institute student, Kozar’s winning answer was “I would make pop art from Pop-Tarts toaster pastries boxes and wrappers.”
Pop art from Pop-Tarts? It only seems fitting.
A truck carrying all one million Pop-Tarts recently delivered them to The Art Institute of Pittsburgh’s campus to the delight of students, faculty and passersby. The spectacle was even featured on VH1’s Best Week Ever.
Kozar and his team plan to create 2D and 3D art installations that will be on display in the Gallery at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh in April. The remaining Pop-Tarts will be donated to local food banks and charities.
Have a creative idea that seems like it might be a little too crazy? Kozar’s Pop-Tart pop art idea drives home the fact that you’re only limited by your imagination.
